The challenge

Instructions and documentation must be written clearly and meet legal, normative, and country-specific requirements. Digitalization offers many opportunities to make the production of these more efficient and less error-prone. At the same time, the ability to maximise the reuse of text modules and standardize how content is labelled is becoming increasingly important.

Technical documentation in the fields of aeronautics, space travel, and defense, presents large challenges in terms of quality and efficiency.

The solution

Xeditor helps you create instructions and documentation in XML format and structures them granularly and semantically. Intelligent author support intuitively guides authors through complex document structures and noticeably simplifies the review process. Various plug-ins, such as Acrolinx, ensure outstanding content quality. Xeditor also supports individual schemes (XSD, DTD) as well as industry standards such as S1000D, S2000D and ATA Spec 100/iSpec 2200. It can be easily integrated into existing systems such as CMS and DMS.

ATA iSpec2200

ATA iSpec 2200 is a global aviation industry standard for the content, structure, and electronic exchange of aircraft engineering and maintenance information. It consists of a suite of data specifications pertaining to maintenance requirements and procedures and aircraft configuration control.

S1000D

S1000D is an international specification for the procurement and production of technical publications. It is an XML specification for preparing, managing, and using equipment maintenance and operations information. It was initially developed by ASD for use with military aircraft. The specification has since been modified for use with land, sea, and commercial equipment.

S2000M

Specification 2000M (S2000M) originally defined the Materiel Management processes and procedures to be used in support of aircraft and other aerospace airborne and ground equipment supplied to Military Customers. Although this Specification is designed for military Product support, it may nevertheless be used for the support of any non-military Product.
